Introduction.
Since its formation in 1990, the main aim of the Norris Family Research Group has been to encourage research into the history of those families and individuals descended, like myself, from Thomas Norris and Jane Lambert who married at Shapwick, Dorset, England in 1803. To ensure that a permanent record of the family's history is passed on to future generations, the broad objectives of the Norris Family Research Group are:
- To write a comprehensive Family History
- To produce a complete Family Tree
- To encourage research through the issue of a regular Newsletter
- To establish a Family Archives Collection recording the location of all known family records;
- To hold a Norris family reunion.
In 2000, the Norris Family Research Group published the Norris Family Chart: From Dorset To New South Wales, containing the names of 4,854 descendants of Thomas Norris and 2,107 of their spouses.
The publication of the above book coincided with the issue of the final Norris Family Newsletter and the effective wind-up of the Norris Family Research Group as an active entity. However, it does not mean that my interest in the Norris Family history has diminished at all. If you find this Introduction of interest, please send me a message at alanthompson_at_grapevine.com.au. I would be extremely pleased to hear from you about any family news and information.
