The Early Records - Four Important Marriages.

Marriage details for Henry, Sansom, and Isaac Norris.

• Bride: Caroline Moore of Hinton St Mary
• Date: 11 April 1825
• Place: Child Okeford
• Witnesses: Daniel Tapper, Lucy Moore

Notes: Hinton St Mary is a village located about five miles north-west of Child Okeford and just north of Sturminster Newton (see Map). The 1807 Dorset Poll Book records that the occupiers of tenements in Wimborne, owned by George Cherrett, were a certain Tapper and Norris. This coincidence provides a possible lead for further research. Wimborne is a town some 15 miles south-east of Child Okeford.

• Date: 4 July 1830

• Witnesses: Louisa Pain, John Hiscock

Notes: According to her Death Certificate, Mary's father was John Newman. Her first husband was James Arnold, married circa 1817, by whom she had three children.

• Bride: Sarah Read
• Date: 18 November 1834
• Place: Child Okeford
• Witnesses: Fanny Robings, John Hiscock

Notes: Throughout his life Samson's name is also spelt as Sansom and Sampson. His baptismal entry records Samson. His wife's Maiden Name is clearly recorded as Wade in the Shipping Lists for the Royal George. It states that she was born on 20 January 1813 (or 1814) in Crickledon, Somerset, daughter of John Wade and Anne (nee Hooper).

• Bride: Kezia Norris, aged 33 years, daughter of Thomas Norris (deceased).
