AT PENNO PUB. SATURDAY JUNE 12, 2004 from 6 pm to 3 am. "PATRICKS' NIGHTCLUB FUNCTION ROOM" Non-smoking room BRING ALONG YOUR "OLD" SCHOOLDAY PHOTOS!!! Sunday "Recovery" Family Picnic Day This family event will be held at the School Grounds near the School Hall on Sunday commencing at 12.00 noon. For those who don't know where the School Hall is, it replaced the Old House on the left near the Car Park where some of "you" spent some of your lessons! Bring along your families! This is a BYO everything Picnic Day (including pillows for those who may have had a late night before) |

Hi Michael Wanted to let you know what a great venue Jenny has chosen for our reunion. We also checked out the menu and the food is plentiful, hearty and good value. What was most reassuring is that none of us had changed bar a few extra wrinkles and having to hold the menu at arm's length to be able to read it! We had a great catch-up, hearing stories of the last 30 years and buddies we'd kept up with. We left with various organisational tasks to do. I will be contacting the school re signage for the night. Hi Bron, The web site is fantastic and filling up fast. I have been scouting around for some venues, as you know, and the most feasible one at this stage is the refurbished Penno pub. There is a completely separate nightclub room with contempory decor, discjockey facility, a quiet room away from the noise behind soundproof glass, 2 pool tables, bar, onsite catering, security and it is open until 3am. Obviously a familiar location and ample parking. It is licenced to hold 600 but that would be sardine stlye partying!!! There will of course be a hiring charge of $200 and one security guard $256 plus food, decorations,music etc. However the network system could be called upon for connections with the latter items. I have enlisted assistance form Chris White, Janet Marshall and David Mariner at this stage to help with on site arrangements, but there are others also eager to help. We hope to meet soon and brainstorm some ideas for the night and check the pub's cuisine and decorating options. We will also source local accommodation sites. For the recovery (family) picnic on the Sunday, the school are granting us access to the hall and the school grounds for the day. This gives us toilets, shelter and hot water facilities for the picnic. Isn't it excitng!! Hope you, Kendall and Randy are well. Good luck with your new CD launch. Cheers from |

As you can appreciate, we would like to choose a venue which is convenient for everyone, and we have had many positive suggestions, so please bear with us as we choose the right location. Jen (Jenny Robards, nee Walker) has done a tremendous job in chasing up the many different options -- I thought Ballina sounded good, but that suggestion fell on deaf ears... |

I attended PHHS from 1971-76 so not coming to your reunion but interested in making some comments. We had our 10 year reunion at Penno Bowling Club, 20 year one at Panthers at Penrith, and a 25 one to help out with the 2001 school fire fund in the canteen. Panthers was a great location as no issues with parking, great food and service at a reasonable price, no problems getting out there (40mins from Penno), and it also had accommodation for people who had come a long way or decided they wanted to party on well into the morning. Some people said Penrith too far but majority said great and about 200 people (including some partners) turned up. I work with Peter McGill at IBM, so will inform him. Also, have a look at the school friends site for other years to track down younger brothers/sisters. Peter Gesling's sister, Elena, was great at tracking down our year and I was surprised at the number of older siblings in 1973. I counted about 10 people from your list who you had not marked as contacted. Elena will give you some more good ideas. I recently sent her an email but got back no reply, so if you would like to speak with her, I can get her current details. All the best with the organising ... and time for us to start planning our 30th in 2006. PS. My daughter has just left Penno with her HSC and I have a son in Year 9. And yes some teachers are still there, for example, Mrs Springer. Several ex-students also teach at the school but would have been in post-73 years, eg. Peter Kneale and Roger Nichol. |
