Shops, restaurants, and clubs are also close by - a 5 minute drive or 30-40 minute walk to either Lanyon or Calwell shops.  A 10 minute drive (5 km) puts you in the  Tuggeranong Town Centre, which offers a full range of shops (the Tuggeranong Hyperdome Shopping Centre); restaurants; movie cinemas; licenced clubs; Irish pub; banks, business and government services; churches; golf club; swimming pool and gym centre; a skate park; walking trails around Lake Tuggeranong; tenpin bowling alley; and a sporting and basketball centre.   Also close by is the Erindale Centre, offering shops, restaurants and clubs. 

We adjoin mountain bush-walking trails on Tuggeranong Hill (a woodland reserve), and you have easy access to the Canberra network of walking, jogging and cycling paths.  Playing fields are a 30 minute walk away (5 minute drive) - ideal for fitness activities or golf practice.  A bus stop connecting you to the entire Canberra bus network is a 5 minute walk from home. 

Local tourist attractions include:

  •       Lanyon Homestead (7 km, 10 minute drive).  Open 10.00am - 4.00pm Tues - Sun and most public holidays.  Ph: 6235 5677.

  •       The Nolan Gallery, located next to Lanyon Homestead.  (7 km, 10 minute drive.)  Open 10.00am - 4.00pm Tues - Sun and most public holidays, and until 5.00pm on Sat, Sun during daylight saving.  Ph: 6235 5688.

  •       The Murrumbidgee River Corridor, which provides numerous barbecue, swimming, picnic, fishing, canoeing, camping, cycling, walking and playground areas, guided tours (including Pine Island Reserve, Point Hut Park and Picnic Area, Cotter Dam and surrounds, Angle Crossing, Casuarina Sands, Tharwa Bridge Recreation Area, Kambah Pool and Red Rocks Gorge)  (15 to 30 minutes' drive to the various areas).

  •       Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve (barbecue and picnic areas, bush walking, bird-watching, cycling, guided tours, mountain bike riding, nature discovery playground, and viewing of wildlife including kangaroos, emus, koalas (in a large 'wet forest' koala enclosure) reptiles, platypus, lyrebirds, the Brush-tailed Rock Wallaby, and the Northern Corroboree Frog) 30 km, 30 minute drive).  The Reserve is open 9.00am - 6.00pm, and 9.00am - 8.00pm during daylight saving hours.  The visitor centre is open 9.00am - 4.30pm weekdays, and 9.00am - 5.30pm on weekends.  Ph: 6205 1233. 

  •       The Canberra Space Centre, Tidbinbilla (35 km, 35 minute drive).  Open 7 days per week, 9.00am - 5.00pm (6.00pm during daylight saving).  Ph: 6201 7880.  http://www.cdscc.nasa.gov/

  •       Tharwa Village 10km, 15 minutes.

  •       Pialligo Estate Wines and Cafe (views from the banks of the Molonglo River, and enjoy a vineyard walk, tastings, and a meal in the cafe, including al fresco lunches) 20 km, 25 minutes (near Canberra airport).  Open Thursday to Sunday, 10.00am - 5.00pm and public holidays.  18 Kallaroo Road, Pialligo.  Ph: 6247 6060; 6262 6692. 

  •       Googong Dam (swimming, lookouts, walking tracks, bird watching, fishing, barbecues, canoeing, boating and sailing, trout fishing) (10 km south of Queanbeyan and approximately 30 minutes drive from Langley Heights Bed and Breakfast.

  •       Namadgi National Park (birdwatching, bushwalking, camping, cycling, fishing, four wheel driving, guided tours, horse riding, rock climbing, and swimming) (15km, 20 minute drive, to the Namadgi National Park Visitor Centre, then various drives to all areas of the park.)  The information centre is open 9.00am - 4.00pm Mon - Fri, and 9.00am - 4.30pm weekends.  Ph: 6207 2900.

  •       Hill Station, 51 Sheppard Street, Hume (just off Monaro Highway) - 15 km, 15 mins drive.  Restaurant and cafe set in historic buildings circa 1909. Lunch 11.00am - 3.00pm Tue - Fri; Dinner Friday and Saturday evenings.  www.hillstation.net.au  Ph: 6260 1393.
