The A.R.H.S. publishes monthly the Railway Digest, dealing largely with contemporary railway matters, and the Bulletin, which contains articles of historical interest.

The ARHS Railway Resource Centre has a Reading Room that is open on Saturdays and Tuesdays for private research, and offers a Research Service to answer questions sent by mail, fax or Email. Details of times and costs are shown on their website.

The A.R.H.S. Bookshop stocks books, magazines, DVDs and CDs from Australia and overseas. These are sold at competitive prices, and financial members receive 10% discount on most books offered. There is an encrypted Shopping Cart facility. They also have information regarding society rail tours.

Open between 9.00am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday and 9.00am to 4.00pm on Saturday (closed on public holidays).

NSW STATE RECORDS

With the dismantling of the State Rail Archives, much of the archive material has been transferred here. A great part of the collection has been catalogued and made available to the public, and information is available on line. However, access to the collection and obtaining copies of material is difficult without visiting State Records.

This site contains libraries of photographs of locomotives, rolling stock and railway infrastructure, generally contemporary, contributed by various photographers. The photographs are available for downloading and printing, and are a valuable asset for modellers. New libraries are added from time to time.

Non profit organisation preserving railway heritage, operating tours, and produce the 'Roundhouse' magazine for members. Australia's largest collection of locomotives and rolling stock, some in operating condition. Many are stored under cover in close proximity so can be difficult to photograph (go mid week, there are fewer people).
