This map shows all Government Primary schools in the ACT and 1.6km radius circles from each school. Schools which will close (as of 13/12/2006) are represented by a red dot, and red circle, while those remaining open have a blue dot and blue circle. The new P-10 school in West Belconnen (on the site of the old Ginninderra District High), the proposed P-10 school in Harrison and the P-10 school on the Kambah High site are also shown.

Placing your mouse over a dot will pop up a window identifying the school. If you click on this dot the circle will disappear.

The controls at the top of the map can turn all circles on and off at once.

The distance of 1.6km was used as a cutoff for walking to schools in the school closure proposal of the late 1980s. This a long way to walk for most primary age children, but it gives a good impression of the spacing of schools.

The primary schools sites were grabbed from Street Directory and if they weren't listed there then they were hand geocoded from WikiMapia.
