According to Peg's diary, Aunt Gert passed away in the afternoon of 26th 1940. Archie went to spend the night with Gordon.

Sheila said her mother had heart trouble brought on by rheumatic fever and was only physically active in the early part of Sheila's life. She used to write to people. "My mother lived with her damaged heart gradually worsening until age 54"

Gertrude married Charles Gordon BEATTY, son of James BEATTY and Marcella Constance PAGET, on 4 Mar 1911 in South Yarra, Vic. ³.^,6 (Charles Gordon BEATTY was born on 21 Feb 1885 in 49 Caroline street, South Yarra, Vic. ^26,63,118 and died in 1958 in Heidelberg, Vic. ²⁶.)
