• Court: Inquest on fire at Regentville House near Penrith, 27 May 1869, Parramatta, NSW. Regentville House was the property of John Shiels and his wife. Present in the house at the time of the fire and giving evidence was Mrs McLean, "mother of Mrs. Shiels". Mr. Shiels had been at his other property, Woodford House, "accommodation for the public" at Eighteen mile Hollow. Also at Woodford that night was "my sister-in-law Jane Mclean"

John married Margaret McLEAN, daughter of Edward McLEAN and Mary Jane GORDON, in 1856 in Windsor, New South Wales, Australia.⁴⁵⁷ (Margaret McLEAN was born about 1839 in Ireland, died on 4 Apr 1911 in Leura, NSW ^458,459 and was buried in Apr 1911 in Wentworth Falls, New South Wales, Australia.)
