As teachers, we may often encounter students with communication difficulties, but what does this really mean for us as educators? What are our roles and responsibilities towards these students? How can we maximise their learning opportunities? What is the impact on these individuals and on society, and just how prevalent is this impairment? Most importantly, as a teacher, what does it mean for us when our students have a communication impairment?
