Col., served in Hampton's Brigade, Sharpsburg campaign (w), November 1862 Col., Brandy Station, Gettysburg campaign, assigned to Butler's Brigade, October 1863 Brig. Gen., Ashland (w), defence of Savannah, commanded a division under Hampton in Carolinas campaign.
