All prices are in
Australian dollars. I accept cash, cheques, or PayPal payments.
There is a $25 minimum charge on all jobs.
FICTION
Because I understand that authors often have very little money, I offer special low prices for fiction. Please note that I charge a different rate for other types of work (see below) or if English is not your first language. If English is not your first language, please contact me with a sample of your work for a quote.
Substantive Edit definition
$15 per 1000 words, $25 minimum - $500 maximum (up to 200,000 words).
For example, for a 7,000 word short story substantive edit I charge 7 x $15 = $105. For a 2,450 word short story I charge 2.45 x $15 = $36.75. Anything from 34,000 to 200,000 words attracts a flat rate of $500.
If you have written an epic of over 200,000 words, add an extra $1.50 per additional 1000 words, so a substantive edit for a 350,000 word novel costs $725.
Copy Edit definition
$15 per 1000 words, $25 minimum.
For example, for a 1200 word short story copy edit I charge 1.2 x $15 = $18, but this is below the minimum of $25 so the charge is $25. For an 80,000 word novel I charge 80 x $15 = $1200.
Proofread definition
$15 per 1000 words, $25 minimum.
Comprehensive Edit definition
If you submit the same manuscript for several editing tasks -- for instance you revise your work after a substantive edit and then submit it for a copy edit -- we can negotiate a reduced price for the second and subsequent jobs.
NON-FICTION
Substantive Edit definition
$0.03 per word, minimum $25
For example, for a 4000 word newsletter substantive edit I charge 4000 x $0.03 = $120. For a 20,000 word thesis I charge 20,000 x $0.03 = $600.
Copy Edit definition
$0.03 per word, minimum $25.
For example, for a 1500 word essay I charge 1500 x $0.03 = $45. For a 7000 word business document I charge 7000 x $0.03 = $210.
