Russell and Helen were invited to go to Spain by the then Director of ACCTS in 1988, but it was 15 months later that this became possible, in January 1990. After a three week visit they were invited to return for a longer period by the directors of the Spanish Biblical Institute for Christians in the Armed Forces (IBFA). They returned to Spain for six months in 1991 and have been making regular visits to the military Christians there ever since. As a result of their ministry, the work was handed over from the directors of IBFA to a small group of professional military personnel who have kept it going through some ups and downs ever since. The Bielenberg's work consists in advising and encouraging as well as training in such areas as inductive Bible study, conversational prayer and leadership. They accompanied the national coordinator to an AMCF European conference in Hungary in 1999 to assist with interpretation of the conference content.
