The challenge was to create an annoying advertising banner.
The way I approached this challenge was to fit the content (flights) with the movement of flying. I used a plane to travel through the sky to bring the viewer an adventure. At the end of the flight the "affordable flights" banner pops up in red, to show that the journey is cheap. The colour is high in contrast and the brightness of the gif is low (which is not the case for successful "annoying advertising banners"). Although the challenge was to create an annoying banner, I personally wanted to create a experience to the viewer.
Improvements?
To improve my banner and turn it into a annoying and distracting advertising banner, fluoro colours should be used (in most cases unless the background of the site is fluoro, which is unlikely) colours which are opposite to the website should be used and repeatedly flashing. And instead of my words saying "affordable flights" it would be more exciting to say "SAVE NOW! FLY!" or something along the lines as it creates an incentive to fly instead of opportunity.
