Maxwell's Vortex


DESCRIPTION

A speculative story, comprising 32% science fiction (i.e. the effects of disruptive technology in the near future), 16% romance (i.e. interpersonal affection with irrational sexual nuance), 8% literature (i.e. conflict), 4% humour (dry, stirred – never shaken), 2% paranormal (i.e. keep an open mind), 1% action (but no gratuitous violence) and 0% fantasy (though the language used may contain some mythological residue). The remainder has yet to be classified.

CONTENTS

Chapter 1 - Departures

Max, a would be scientist, meets Cathy, the wife of his mentor. It is a critical time in both their lives, but Cathy is not being entirely honest.

Chapter 2 - Dreamland

Max, a would be scientist, takes a risky decision with unexpected consequences. He is fully distracted with thoughts of her.

Chapter 3 - Waves Run Forever

Max thinks he has made a terrible mistake while drunk on the love for his boss's wife. Now he learns more of his crime from within the comfort of his home -- no where is safe.

Chapter 4 - The Relentless Pursuit of Perfection

Cathy attempts to subtly control Max's thoughts about the disaster he created.

Chapter 5 - Parts 1, 2 and 3 - Awesomeness

Max experiments with his discovery and must suffer the consequences.

Chapter 6 - What Goes Up

Max makes a visit to the Cathy's home and learns some things he'd rather not have.

Chapter 7 - Parts 1 and 2 - The Summons of Colonel Driesk

Time to surrender, but things do not go as planned.

Chapter 8 - Parts 1 and 2 - The Dangers of Using a Pressure Cooker

Max is prepared for interogation, but things do not go as planned.

Chapter 9 - Parts 1 and 2 - Let No Man Put Asunder

Max is prepared for interogation, but things do not go as planned.

Chapter 10 - Parts 1 and 2 - Moveable Ground

The unmatched couple are transported to a tropical paradise and Max procastinates.

Chapter 11 - Parts 1 to 4 - Pain

There is loss and Max finally starts his return to Canberra.

Chapter 12 - Folding Flowers

We start again, or do we?
